Missing Home

"Blink and you'll miss it". The words I would hear every time someone would describe my home town. Nestled in the valley below Bill Williams mountain, Williams Arizona is where I spent my youth. Also known as the "Gateway to the Grand Canyon", this little town is a mere 60 miles from one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

I can't remember the first time I laid eyes on the beauty of the canyon. My childhood memories are slowly becoming an ever fading blur, however the images of those memories have certainly left their mark. This picture was taken in May of 2007, just over one year after I said "I do" to my Travis.

Indescribable, the feeling you get when you step up to the rim and gaze upon the vast canyon below. As I look at the image, something stirs deep within my soul causing a longing for vivid blue skies, pine trees, and familiar places.

I  love my new home, and the people here who have filled my life with such joy. Be that as it may, this girl's heart remains attached to that little town where I began my journey on this earth.

  1. So true! I always feel a pang when I see a photograph of cypress trees with spanish moss. There is nothing like your childhood home. Love the photograph!
